Task
In March 2023, we worked with an Israeli company Globalbit. The company's request was to close a complex managerial IT position - R&D Manager.
Job Description:
- More than three years with experience working in R&D leadership positions.
- Five years or more of hands-on software development experience across specific areas like:
- Web interface development on popular UI frameworks: Angular or React.
- Backend development based on NodeJS, NestJS.
- SQL/NoSQL DBs. - Software design skills:
- OOP/OOD.
- DDD.
- Functional programming.
- Microservices. - Experience with cloud-based services like AWS/GCP/Azure.
- An understanding of DevOps is essential:
- Code for infrastructure.
- CI/CD. - A knowledge of the R&D process which includes development, design, and testing of products.
- Experience with projects in the areas of travel, finance, and jewelry was beneficial.
Solution
We carefully reviewed the vacancy requirements and discussed the specifics in detail with our customer. The job was difficult: we looked for candidates with managerial abilities and experience in similar roles as well as professional expertise in relevant technologies used in research and development. We sent out personalized invitations to those who were found not just in open source databases but as well in databases of previous projects. Interviews as well as internal group discussions were held to determine the strengths and weaknesses of each candidate.
Results
The client was given complete profiles of the six candidates. After an interview series two candidates were selected. One of them passed the final stages of interview and received an offer of employment and was hired by the firm. At the end of the process we provided support to the client in helping solve financial motivation issues that were acceptable to everyone involved.
Our experience has allowed us not just to find an ideal candidate, but also to respond to the requirements of the client expediting the process while saving time.
